The incident took place on Sunday, 10 December, in one of the grocery stores in Bolesławiec. The man, who was caught stealing goods worth PLN 10, was given a PLN 500 fine by the officers.
Why such a high fine? As it turns out, the man in question is a repeat offender—his record includes fuel theft, driving a car without a licence and… shoplifting. He has already received several fines this year. What is more, four days earlier he had also tried to rob one of the shops.
“Someone who so often comes into conflict with the law cannot expect to be treated every time as a person for whom this is the first offence of this kind,” say the Bolesławiec officers.
