From 4 to 6 December, a nine-member delegation from Bolesławiec, led by Barbara Smoleńska, a teacher at Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. mjra Henryka Sucharskiego and head of Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich, visited Ukraine as part of the “Bolesławiec Days in Zbaraż” project. Its aim was to present the culture and traditions of the City of Ceramics to students at schools in Zbaraż.
For St. Nicholas Day, children from Zbaraż received gifts and Christmas greeting cards prepared by children and young people from schools and preschools in Bolesławiec.
The gifts—around 1,500 items—were prepared by the communities of Primary Schools Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5; Preschools Nos. 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7; and the non-public Jacek i Agatka Preschool; as well as Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. mjra Henryka Sucharskiego in Bolesławiec, Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych, Zespół Szkół Budowlanych and I Liceum Ogólnokształcące.
“The delegation from Bolesławiec visited students at four schools in Zbaraż. It was received very warmly, including with a traditional welcome of bread and salt,” says Barbara Smoleńska. “During the visit, cooperation was established with schools that could become project partners. Christmas greetings were delivered together with small gifts, as well as books for learning Polish and clothing for the Social Welfare Centre.
She adds: “The project’s implementation led to broader and closer cooperation between Bolesławiec and Zbaraż.”
The project was co-financed by the Municipality of Bolesławiec.
