This is another edition of nationwide free training courses during which soldiers teach women basic self-defense techniques. Uniformed personnel from the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów have also joined the program, which is held under the patronage of the Ministry of National Defence.
The first class took place on Saturday, December 2. During the course, the women will learn, among other things, how to correctly assume a defensive stance, escape from a hold, defend themselves against punches and kicks, defend themselves against strangulation, and defend themselves in the event of an attack with a knife or another dangerous tool. “These will be basic techniques that will help women cope when they find themselves in a dangerous situation,” say the soldiers from Świętoszów. “There are no age restrictions for this course; the women only need to be adults.”
Lance Corporal Tomasz Fąfara, one of the instructors:
The course participants will primarily learn how to cope with stress and how not to be caught off guard. After several months of training, they will also understand that self-defense is actually very simple. During the classes, we promote the krav maga system, which is based on natural reflexes. We only need to make the person we are teaching aware of this. The women’s commitment is truly very strong. They are characterized by tremendous determination, which makes us instructors very happy.
