Construction work is underway to adapt the former department store into the Knowledge Centre. In the near future, the contractor plans to renovate the roof and enclose the building, which will allow interior work to continue during the winter. The contractor is Pro-Bud from Legnica.

It is worth recalling that the project “Knowledge Centre – adaptation of the former department store premises for public purposes in Bolesławiec” is a response to difficulties in the library’s operation, caused mainly by the growing number of users, the building’s poor technical condition and its relatively small area of 820 sq m (520 sq m available to readers). The new facility has an area of 1,346.53 sq m.

The modern library under construction is intended to be a place for social gatherings, communication, leisure, learning, relaxation and cultural activities. The centre is to be opened at the end of next year. “We want to expand our offer; we care about an ambitious project that will enable access to the wealth of knowledge from around the world, not only for the residents of Bolesławiec but also for the region. One of the ideas we want to implement is close cooperation with the Copernicus Science Centre,” says Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman.
