The incident occurred on Sunday, November 19, at around 12:40 p.m., in one of the grocery discount stores in Szklarska Poręba. The 59-year-old resident of Zambrów County crossed the checkout line without paying for 5 bottles of vodka worth nearly PLN 120.

The 59-year-old was drunk, with almost 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. The whole matter would probably have ended with a PLN 500 fine if the man had not pressed PLN 100 into the hand of one of the police officers in exchange for abandoning official proceedings. He then offered the officers an additional PLN 500 and lunch.

The vodka enthusiast was detained and taken to police custody. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
