On Saturday, November 18, the Titan Cup, the Konin Championships and the Monster Press competition were held in Konin. A resident of Lwówek Śląski, platoon sergeant Zbigniew Boczar, took part in the competition and once again showed that passion and determination bring results. “Despite spending the week at a training ground, with meals that are difficult to call food, and losing weight, I managed,” says the athlete, who won gold at the Konin Championships and silver in the Titan Cup by pressing a 185-kg barbell.
In the Monster Press competition—participants had to press their body weight plus 100 kilograms—our artilleryman won bronze, pressing a 185-kg barbell 11 times. (He was the lightest participant in the competition; he lost only to the best.) He thus showed that it is no coincidence that he is the best soldier of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec at barbell pressing.
Z. Boczar:
Unfortunately, the lack of support from his superiors and the need to take part in field training put his participation in the WPA World Championships in Siedlce in doubt, as the lack of training and meals worse than those in a prison do not support preparations.
I thank my loved ones—my wife and mother—for their help with my preparations. Centrum Kompleksowej Fizjoterapii Mariusz Machniak—for maintaining my muscles and providing advice on a professional warm-up. I thank WPA Polska President Tomasz Andrzejczak for training advice and for sending an invitation to the commander of 11LDKPanc, who supported my participation in Saturday’s competition. I also thank the acting commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec for enabling me to compete.
In particular, I greet the chief judge, with whom I was able to take a photo, the powerlifting legend Stefan Sochański. I wish him his 100th medal at the WPA World Championships in Siedlce for his collection.
And he adds:
I do not greet the lower-level commanders who are doing everything to prevent me from competing and cannot make decisions that would allow me to represent the Polish Armed Forces with dignity at the WPA World Championships, which are being held in Poland.
