In October, work related to the second stage of the redevelopment of Kleeberga Street and Starzyńskiego Street in Bolesławiec was completed. The second stage of the investment involved redeveloping two side roads off Kleeberga Street and Starzyńskiego Street. The redevelopment was financed from the budgets of the City of Bolesławiec and the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative. The total cost of the works was PLN 466,346, including PLN 378,301 from the city budget and PLN 88,045 from the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative.

The main scope of the investment included, among other things, the construction of a side road off Kleeberga Street; the expansion and redevelopment of existing parking bays, increasing the number of parking spaces from 19 to 37; road drainage; the redevelopment of lighting; the construction of a pavement on Starzyńskiego Street, numbers 29–43; and the redevelopment of access paths to stairwells and refuse rooms. The contractor is BUDROMAX of Rząsiny near Gryfów Śl., and the designer is AJD PROJEKT of Leśna.

It is worth recalling that in September last year, work on the first stage of the task “Redevelopment of Kleeberga Street and Starzyńskiego Street” was completed. The cost of construction works in 2016 amounted to PLN 322,278, including PLN 220,754 from the Bolesławiec city budget and PLN 101,524 from the “Bolesławianka” Housing Cooperative.

Bolesławiec’s first active pedestrian crossing was built on aleja Tysiąclecia. It is located near the intersection with Spokojna Street. Sensors detecting pedestrians and warning signals have been installed at the crossing. The contractor is EUROASFALT of Olsztyn. The cost of the project is PLN 40,735.

Active crossings warn drivers when a pedestrian intends to cross the road. This is possible thanks to several synchronised elements: motion sensors, point retroreflective elements, white-and-red stripes, and D-6 road signs with LED lamps. The flashing yellow warning light is activated only when “something is happening” at the crossing—that is, when a pedestrian is approaching it. This is a clear signal for the driver, who should take their foot off the accelerator at that moment. This is a pilot programme. Following a period of positive testing, this solution may be implemented at other locations in Bolesławiec.

Meanwhile, the redevelopment of the county roads Polna Street and Ogrodowa Street, carried out by Bolesławiec County and co-financed from the Bolesławiec city budget, has been completed. The amounts were PLN 252,974 for Polna Street and PLN 193,754 for Ogrodowa Street. The lighting on Ogrodowa Street and Polna Street was also modernised. The investment was carried out by the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The city budget allocated PLN 108,240 for the lighting modernisation. The roadworks contractor was Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych of Lubań, while the electrical works were carried out by ELEKTROS of Bolesławiec.

The construction of lighting at Primary School No. 3 on Ceramiczna Street has been completed. The investment was carried out under a design-and-build formula. The result is modern, energy-efficient lighting for the school grounds, provided by five LED lighting points. The cost of the investment is PLN 35,360. The contractor is ELEKTROS of Bolesławiec.

Moreover, in October, the City Hall handed over the construction site for the task “Construction of lighting along the pedestrian and cycle path from Piastów Street to the Biedronka store”. The task includes installing 11 aluminium lighting poles with LED luminaires. The contractor is ITINET of Zielona Góra. The value of the task is PLN 85,977. The works will be completed in December this year.
