The “Wspólnota” magazine, a biweekly devoted entirely to local governments, conducted a study of the healthcare and investment spending of local government units. Based on its analyses, it prepared reports showing that Rudna Municipality ranks highly in both rankings.

In the overall ranking of healthcare spending for 2006–2015, Rudna ranked seventh in Poland in the category of municipalities with an average income of more than PLN 4,000 per resident. “We should also be pleased with our position in the ranking of local government investment spending for 2014–2016, also prepared by the ‘Wspólnota’ magazine,” municipal officials say. “The investment leaders ranking revealed an overall downward trend—the level of local government investment has been lower than expected for several years, but we have no reason to complain. With average investment spending per resident of PLN 1,201.08, we rank 76th among all 1,559 municipalities in the country. Among the nearby neighboring municipalities, only Grębocice ranked ahead of us (PLN 1,238.37 per resident). The number of investments carried out by the municipality does not seem to confirm the downward trends identified by the ranking’s authors: construction of a canoe marina in Chobienia is under way, the stadium in Rudna is being renovated, and road repairs, wastewater treatment plant upgrades, road lighting and water supply system modernization, as well as renovations of schools in the municipality, are being carried out on an ongoing basis.

Mayor Władysław Bigus:

Everything we do is carried out with the comfort of our residents’ lives in mind. It may sound banal, but health is the most important thing. When you have your health, everything else falls into place as well, which is why, as local government officials, we consider good healthcare for residents important. Hence all the health programs we implement, the measures aimed at equipping clinics in the municipality with modern equipment, and the co-financing of equipment for ambulances that come to us in emergencies. We invest so that life can be better for us in every area—whether healthcare, education, municipal services, or transport.
