On Tuesday, 17 October, local-government officials accepted the new county road through Ocice. “This is a very important road between national road 94 and Lwówek Śląski,” said the county head Karol Stasik. “At present, this road is the most important detour between Bolesławiec and Lwówek. And it will remain so until next autumn. That is when the contractor rebuilding road 297 is expected to complete the investment.
The renovation of the road through Ocice in figures:
- approximately 2.5 km long
- surface area: 13,300 sq m
- road shoulders: 0.5 to 1 m wide
- 2-kilometre pavement with an average width of 1.25 m (“We would like it to be 2 m,” explained Karol Stasik, “but this investment was restorative in nature; it follows the existing route, that is, the existing road plot).
- 220 m of pavement to the church
- the investment financed by the Bolesławiec County and Bolesławiec municipality amounted to PLN 2 million.
“This is the second-largest road investment carried out by the County this year. It was important for social reasons,” emphasizes deputy county head Tomasz Gabrysiak. “Residents complained that the condition of the road and the increased traffic connected with the reconstruction of road 297 made life in Ocice uncomfortable. Importantly, this road was built thanks to the involvement of funds from the County and the Bolesławiec municipality. I would like to sincerely thank the mayor and the Municipal Council; without their participation, carrying out this investment would have been very difficult and would certainly have taken much longer.
Bolesławiec municipality mayor Andrzej Dutkowski:
This is our joint success; both sides wanted to bring this transport route to a good technical condition after many years of efforts. During the work, residents submitted their comments, and all those that were justified were taken into account. We can stand here safely today; no one will come here with harrows or baseball bats to hold us accountable for the condition of this road.
Stanisław Chwojnicki, a member of the Bolesławiec County Board, added that the County had been trying to build this road since 2010. It succeeded only now, thanks to cooperation between the Marshal’s Office, the County and the municipality.
Ewa Sondaj, county councillor from Ocice:
I would like to thank you very much, on behalf of the residents, for this wonderful investment. It was something that kept the County and municipal authorities awake at night, but above all, it concerned us, the residents. The safety of the children was most important to us. There was no pavement to the crossroads; they had no way to walk to school.
Many thanks also to the County Roads Authority and its manager, Paweł Bednarski. Whenever we needed support, when we called to say that something needed improvement, the County Roads Authority’s response was practically immediate. The men rose to the occasion. I think all the residents of Ocice are satisfied.
