  • 2 October MAUDIE (romance, Ireland, Canada, 2016) is a tender and moving story based on the life of painter Maud Lewis, now considered one of Canada’s most important artists. An extraordinary story about a romance between a loner and a fragile yet energetic woman who longs for independence so that she can paint her exceptional pictures with great passion.
  • 9 October FAIR PLAY (drama, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, 2014) is set in the 1980s in communist Czechoslovakia. Young and talented runner Anna is selected for the national team and begins training to qualify for the Olympic Games. The coach is convinced that the young athlete can win a medal. To help Anna, he gives her steroids without her knowledge. Anna’s mother realises that this is a great opportunity for her daughter and that she could use the trip to the Olympics to escape the country, so she agrees to give the child the harmful substances.
  • 16 October SWEDISH THEORY OF LOVE (documentary, Sweden, 2017) suggests that the state provides Swedes with everything except… the ability to be with other people. The film won the Award of the Network of Arthouse and Local Cinemas at the 13th Millennium Docs Against Gravity FF and won the audience poll at the Bydgoszcz festival section.
  • 23 October OUR BEST YEAR (drama, comedy, France, 2017) is a bittersweet story about love, family troubles, the twists of fate and small pleasures, set in wine-filled Burgundy!
  • 30 October A GENTLE CREATURE (drama, France, 2017) a woman with a striking, calm face receives the return of letters she sent to her husband, who is in prison. She sets out to learn what has happened to him. However, all the information she tries to obtain turns out to be a “state secret”. In the end, she decides to go to the imprisoned man herself.
