The incident took place on 5 September at around 7:30 a.m. in Jelenia Góra. A district officer noticed a Renault vehicle with a broken-off muffler. He decided to stop the driver for a traffic check. However, the driver did not react; on the contrary, he took off.
After a moment, the suspect abandoned the moving car and began fleeing on foot. The car hit a building, bounced off it and came to a stop against a police car.
After several minutes, the district officer apprehended the fugitive, who turned out to be a 29-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra. The arrested man was carrying amphetamine and several rounds of illegal ammunition. He did not have a driving licence. What is more, it emerged that the 29-year-old had a sentence of 3 years and 10 months in prison to serve for other offences.
The Jelenia Góra resident was taken to pre-trial detention. He now faces up to 8 years behind bars.
