On Thursday, December 4, the first Sports and Integration Competition, held under the slogan “Anyone Can Swim,” took place at the indoor swimming pool. The tournament was organized by the Association of Parents of Children and Young People Requiring Special Care, the Occupational Therapy Workshops, and the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych.

People with disabilities from Bolesławiec County and participants of the Occupational Therapy Workshops from Lubań and Zgorzelec took part in the competition.

The invited guests included Deputy Bolesławiec County Head Stanisław Chwojnicki, Mayor Piotr Roman, head of the Powiatowe Centrum Pomocy Rodzinie Danuta Marecka, head of the Social Affairs Department of the Municipal Office Krystyna Boratyńska, head of the Social Affairs and Health Section Barbara Kostyra, TPD president Jadwiga Bobek, and Jan Cołokidzi, president of the Stowarzyszenie Ziemia Bolesławiecka.

The sports event aimed to support rehabilitation, improve physical fitness among people with disabilities, promote a healthy lifestyle, and integrate communities of people with disabilities.

The competition took place in a very friendly atmosphere. People with disabilities received certificates and swimming-themed gadgets. First place went to participants of the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych in Bolesławiec. Swimmers from the Occupational Therapy Workshops in Zgorzelec came second, while the teams from the Occupational Therapy Workshops in Lubań, the First Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy, and the Second Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy tied for third place.
