Police officers received information that a stolen vehicle was located in one of the towns near Legnica. At the scene, officers spotted a parked Mercedes with Polish registration plates. When he saw the officers, the man sitting in the car suddenly drove off, attempting to ram the police car, and then began to flee.

The officers gave chase. The fugitive did not respond to the officers’ visual and audible signals. When they tried to overtake him, he attempted to force the police car into other vehicles.

At one point, the Mercedes driver turned into a dead-end street, abandoned the car at the end of the road and began fleeing on foot.

Other police cars also arrived at the scene. During a search of the area, officers apprehended the man, who had tried to hide in a cornfield. The 29-year-old resident of Legnica was taken into police custody. Three days later, at the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded the suspect in custody for two months. He faces up to five years in prison.

The recovered vehicle was taken to the police impound lot. (The officers determined that the Mercedes had been stolen in the Czech Republic in August. The car is worth PLN 200,000).
