On August 21, during the morning formation of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade (10BKPanc) in Świętoszów, Corporal Franciszek Wańczyk was commended for providing first aid to a man in need.
The incident occurred on August 7 in the morning. Corporal F. Wańczyk heard a loud call for help coming from the area around the pass office. The soldier reacted immediately.
At the scene, he found a man who was unresponsive to any stimuli. During his nine years of military service, the corporal had attended numerous first-aid courses; he knew exactly how to help the injured man. He opened the man’s airway, placed him in the recovery position and restored normal breathing. The man regained consciousness and safely waited for the ambulance to arrive.
The commander of 10BKPanc, Col. Dariusz Parylak, PhD, Dariusz Parylak commended the corporal with a letter of commendation. Colonel Parylak expressed his appreciation for F. Wańczyk’s civic-minded conduct, worthy of a soldier. He also noted that such behavior sets an example to follow.
That day, an order from the Commander General of the Branches of the Armed Forces was also read out. In it, Maj. Gen. Jarosław Mika commended the soldiers of the anti-aircraft squadron, Lt. Col. Piotr Jaraczewski and Senior Staff Sgt. Daniel Szlufik, for achieving very good results while carrying out their official duties.
Meanwhile, in his order, Col. Dariusz Parylak, PhD, commended Senior Staff Sgt. Daniel Szlufik and Senior Corporal Dariusz Kosza for their great commitment, professionalism, exemplary conduct and discipline, as well as for performing their official duties to a very high standard.
