It was an excellent opportunity to pay tribute to the traditions and achievements of the Polish armed forces, as well as to devotion in service to the Homeland. For every soldier, it is a special and unique day, a time for reflection. It is also a time to recall the heroic deeds of Poles who fought for Poland’s freedom and sovereignty. Ninety-seven years ago, Polish soldiers resisted Bolshevik aggression, thereby protecting their fellow citizens. This contributed to stopping the westward expansion of the revolution. Heroic soldiers have repeatedly proven themselves on the fronts of the most difficult and bloodiest wars. Today, too, many soldiers risk what is most precious to them while serving on missions outside the country. Service every day, in every place, is an exceptionally responsible task; it requires sacrifice and should command respect.

This is the most important day of the year for every soldier of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. It is the day on which we commemorate important events that took place several decades ago. It is the day on which we give thanks for our toil and effort. I wish you all a soldier’s good fortune and satisfaction from the tasks you perform every day. Wearing the uniform entails enormous sacrifice, which is why we should be proud to have this honor.
