The parade was organized by the Via Sudetica association, in its former line-up, which no longer exists today. Our website istotne.pl, then operating under the name boleslawiec.org, was the event’s media patron and co-organizer. Perhaps you can recognize yourselves in the photos, ten years younger?
There were prizes for the most interestingly dressed participants: the main prize was PLN 1,000, with smaller prizes of PLN 100. The sponsors of the first Parade Out of Love for Clay were: the Bolesławiec County Office, Ceramika Bolesławiecka, Opałkowa Chata Restaurant, Niebieski Burak restaurant and hotel, Piwnica Paryska Restaurant, Tech Bol, Hoszman, Amper, Dariusz Miliński, Coramex Helicopters, Szawix, the Guild of Various Crafts, Hotel Piast, JDJ Bachalski, Via Sudetica and istotne.pl (then boleslawiec.org).
Members of Via Sudetica encouraged Bolesławiec residents to take part in the parade as follows:
Can you imagine a parade of hundreds of sculptures? In fact, you do not have to imagine it! It will soon become reality. It will really happen! It will be the first Parade Out of Love for Clay in history, organized by Via Sudetica. [...] Wear clothes that mean little to you, clothes you were going to throw away anyway. Pots filled with natural clay paste will be waiting on site. Bolesławiec clay has cosmetic properties, so there is nothing to worry about. No one will undress completely. Everyone will cover themselves in clay and, together with the other Clay People, set off from Opałkowa Chata toward the city center. There, the clay parade will join the annual parade opening the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.
