The sections along road no. 2499D—Brzeźnik–Mierzwin–Ocice, up to the county boundary—were taken up for work. The investment is being carried out jointly with the Bolesławiec municipality. County head Karol Stasik and village head Andrzej Dutkowski jointly sought to accelerate the work on this road, which ultimately led to the designation of a convenient detour in connection with the reconstruction of DW 297, Lwówek–Bolesławiec.
“The investment related to the DW 297 detour involved resurfacing along county road no. 2499D, in Lwówek County and Bolesławiec County. In Bolesławiec County, the work included renewing the wearing course over a stretch of nearly 5 km, providing 26,500 sq m of new surface. The work that had to be carried out using our own resources involved preparing the carriageway by exposing the edges and constructing verges after the bituminous work,” reports Paweł Bednarski, head of the County Roads Authority.
As a result, approximately 10 km of verges, 1 m wide, were revitalized. Vegetation was cleared and grass was trimmed along all the verges.
That is not the end of the good decisions for the municipality’s residents. An investment in the village of Ocice is currently under way along the same county road. (We have written repeatedly in our pages about the disastrous condition of this road, see the header photo). “The scope of this reconstruction includes widening the road where the width of the road reserve made it possible, building new sidewalks (approx. 2,500 sq m), renovating the existing drainage system and road culverts, and renewing approximately 13,500 sq m of road surface,” report the local leaders: Karol Stasik and Andrzej Dutkowski.
Meanwhile, all earthworks have been completed, the sidewalks are nearly finished, and a leveling-and-binder course has already been laid on part of them. The official completion date is the end of September, but according to the contractor’s declarations, the work should finish two weeks earlier.
