The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters received a report of a theft at one of Legnica’s discount stores. The perpetrator took three large chocolate bars from a shelf and then tucked them behind his trouser belt. He then also grabbed a chocolate bar and took it to the checkout. (He intended to pay only for that one.)

When the thief was about to cross the checkout line, a security guard approached him and asked him to return the stolen goods. The 34-year-old then began wrestling with the security employee; he threatened to beat him.

The aggressor was arrested. As it turned out, he was a man with previous convictions for theft, robbery and burglary. The resident of Legnica was doubly unlucky. His recidivism period for a previous robbery theft was due to end in two days.

The man was placed under police supervision. And since he committed the crime while a repeat offender, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
