She wrote to us, a reader:
I would like to send greetings to our County and the company renovating the Osiecznica–Świętoszów road. People! It is the 21st century, yet there is virtually no signage indicating that roadworks are underway, not even at night. On the road [...] there are potholes (also unmarked). We locals know how to drive there at night, but visitors do not.
The reader also has reservations about the road workers’ performance: “They probably do not know how to behave on the road: yesterday, a wheelbarrow was standing in the middle of the road! I was driving when it suddenly appeared in front of my hood.”
She adds: “There has been no visible progress for several months... After the work is completed, the road is not swept, so you can get hit by a stone. A total failure. Maybe I am a woman and do not know what I am talking about, but you can hear the drivers’ outrage. There is no one directing traffic, and the road workers sometimes stand in the middle of the road. I drive every day, so I see a lot. One day this will end in tragedy...”
Paweł Bednarski, head of the District Roads Authority, did not want to comment on the wheelbarrow in the middle of the road. “These may be isolated cases, situations taken out of context,” he noted. He added that the renovation is proceeding according to schedule. The investment is scheduled to be completed by 2019.
