Rhenus Logistic in Bolesławiec
The ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Logistics Center of Rhenus took place on June 15, 2016, in the Bolesławiec subzone of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone “Invest-Park”.
– We see this part of Poland and Europe as a place with enormous potential. Infrastructure was another criterion for us. The third was the business environment that the city and county authorities and WSSE managed to create here. We have felt this support from the very beginning and are certain that it will continue – said Marcin Bartosz, Rhenus Logistics’ general director, at the ceremony.
The warehouse, covering nearly 40,000 m², is only the first part of the investment. Ultimately, if the planned growth in demand for logistics services in Bolesławiec continues, a logistics center with 100,000 m² of warehouse space could be created here. It would be Rhenus Logistic’s largest location in Poland and one of the largest in Europe.
– The investment has been divided into three stages. The first stage is the current facility: a 40,000 m² warehouse with office and social facilities – says branch director Paweł Jagiełło. – The next stage is the expansion of the existing hall by another 17,000 m². Work on the second stage has begun and will be completed in November this year. The third stage is the construction of a second 40,000 m² hall with social facilities; the work should be completed in the third quarter of 2018. We are currently ready to begin operations as a distribution center for a well-known chain of stores, planned for the first half of November – the director adds.
How will Rhenus operate in Bolesławiec?
The facility built in the Bolesławiec subzone uses environmentally friendly technology. It also has extensive social and office facilities, including changing rooms, canteens, and offices. The newly built parking lot can accommodate more than 500 passenger cars.
– Our logistics center will fulfill orders for retail customers of a well-known retail chain – says operations director Wioletta Weber-Jagiełło. – Work will take place in a two-shift system from Monday to Friday. Our warehouse will employ around 300 warehouse workers together with management staff. Employment will grow as our Bolesławiec unit develops. By the end of next year, we plan to hire approximately 400 more people. We are making every effort to automate warehouse processes, which will greatly improve the safety and comfort of our future employees. We pay particular attention to the quality of services provided to our customers, which is why employee training is a very important element.
