The incident was reported to us by a female reader who wrote to us, deeply moved by the entire situation. She felt extremely upset and decided to tell us about the incident.
“I came to the square in front of the church to eat breakfast outdoors with a friend. The man who happened to come out of the church said that this was church property and that eating was not allowed there. We did not want to interrupt our meal, so I said that I had come nearby to exercise, but that did not convince him and he called the police. This man probably serves at this church; he has a speech impediment. From what I understood of what he said while chasing us away, we were supposed to go to the bus stop, where we could eat.”
The confused woman gathered her belongings from the table and left, wanting to avoid an argument. At first, she thought that she had really done something inappropriate. But she was not the one who behaved badly. In our opinion, the man who chased people away from the church behaved reprehensibly. It should be added that the parish in Osiedle Kwiatowe is known for good practices and is valued by its parishioners. The unpleasant incident was the work of one person who treated people eating a meal by the church so unpleasantly, thereby damaging the parish’s image.
We contacted Father Józef Hupa, who knew nothing about the incident but was willing to apologize to our reader after checking whether such an event had taken place.
