Our editorial phone was ringing off the hook this evening. Outraged drivers called. They were angry because, in their opinion, the people responsible for maintaining the roads had fallen asleep at the wheel again. Snow and ice covered most of the streets in Bolesławiec.

Police officers we spoke to said that they had repeatedly tried to reach the road maintenance crews regarding the uncleared streets. To no avail. No one answered the calls; a fax machine switched on instead.

“Six gritters are operating on the county’s roads, and a seventh is operating in Bolesławiec, on the main routes. We started snow removal on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.,” Bernard Ostański from the company responsible for winter road maintenance in Bolesławiec County told the IstotneInformacje.pl website.

Unfortunately, most streets in the city are very slippery. Only the surface of National Road 4 is wet.
