Four villages reached the final: Bolesławice, Kraśnik Górny, Kraśnik Dolny and Łaziska. The competition committee supervising the proper course of the events consisted of: Andrzej Szwedo, chair of the Education, Culture, Sport and Social Affairs Committee, Maria Strojek, chief accountant of the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre, and Janusz Cieśla, director of GOKiS.
The first event involved shooting at a target with rifles firing paint pellets, and the residents of Kraśnik Górny were clearly the best. In the next event, team representatives could test their spelling skills by writing a dictation, which was quite difficult. A resident of Łaziska proved to be the best.
The seemingly easy “bicycle slalom” caused the participants many difficulties. After it was over, it turned out that the team from Kraśnik Górny was the fastest on bicycles. The next task was a guessing game. One competitor verbally described an animal or plant, while the others had to guess its name. Everyone performed very well in this task: all the answers were guessed, and the score was determined solely by the time.
The next two events revolved around a hammer and a saw, with competitors having to drive in nails and saw through a beam. The nails themselves caused no one any difficulty, which could not be said of the saw. Here, starting the sawing incorrectly resulted in an increasingly longer completion time. A completely different challenge was putting up garden tents against the clock. Entire teams were asked to complete the task. Some competitors did not correctly identify all the tubes, and even the instructions in Polish did not help.
The team members had to demonstrate their ability to judge distances and their precision during the “crate race”. The final event was a “bucket race” and transferring sand.
After all the points were added up, it turned out that the tournament winners were the hosts from Bolesławice, who received a PLN 10,000 cheque to be used for village purposes. Kraśnik Górny took second place (PLN 500), Łaziska came third (PLN 5,000), and Kraśnik Dolny came fourth (PLN 3,000). The remaining teams received the following amounts: semifinalists – PLN 1,000, while participants in the qualifying rounds received PLN 500 each.
The prizes were presented by Bolesławiec Municipality head Andrzej Dutkowski, deputy head Roman Jaworski, deputy chair of the Municipal Council Grażyna Łucka and Andrzej Szwedo.
The tournament was organised by the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn. Details are available on the Bolesławiec Municipality website.
