The Safety Picnic was the main prize for carrying out an educational project as part of the Safe Lower Silesian programme. The event was organised by the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, who presented the school’s director Zenona Słobodzian with thanks and a certificate of distinction. The programme was implemented by the Defence and Security Department of UMWD in Wrocław and the Lower Silesian Teacher Training Centre in Wrocław.
During the Safety Picnic, the educational project of the Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec, entitled “Safety Means a Longer Life,” was presented as part of the Safe Lower Silesian programme. The school’s students performed an artistic programme on stage referring to the completed activities concerning safety and a healthy lifestyle. A major attraction of the picnic was a demonstration of selected hand-to-hand combat techniques performed by the close-contact combat section of the Officer School in Wrocław.
The greatest asset of the Safety Picnic was the range of attraction stands, vehicles and equipment belonging to the emergency services:
- the Defence and Security Department of UMWD in Wrocław
- the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters
- the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service
- the Bolesławiec Emergency Medical Service
- the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company in Bolesławiec
- the Special Rescue Group – OSP Starówka
- the search-and-rescue group of OSP Siechnice
- the Karkonosze Mountain Volunteer Rescue Service
- the Lower Silesian WOPR in Wrocław
- the Regional Road Traffic Centre in Jelenia Góra.
Additionally, the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund in Bolesławiec presented a stand with gadgets for children. The students were provided with reflective vests and bands, as well as small first-aid kits. Refreshments were prepared for all the school’s students during the Safety Picnic: grilled sausages, sweet rolls, fruit and drinks.

On June 1, 2016, we began implementing the educational project entitled “Safety Means a Longer Life” at the school as part of the Safe Lower Silesian programme. We completed the project on March 31, 2017. The main aim of the project was for students to acquire and consolidate practical skills relating to safe behaviour and cooperation with services and organisations established to ensure safety.
We planned activities in six areas: safe recreation, road safety, domestic fraud issues, first aid, addiction-related issues and a safe environment. In addition, we completed an extra area entitled “Terrorism.” Our partners in carrying out the project were: Bolesławiec City Hall, the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service, the Municipal Police in Bolesławiec, the Bolesławiec Emergency Medical Service, the Volunteer Water Rescue Service in Bolesławiec, the Municipal Centre for Environmental Education in Bolesławiec, the County Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Bolesławiec, the Water and Sewage Company Ltd. in Bolesławiec, and the Association of Parents of Children with Disabilities “Światełko”.
