The Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre, together with the project partner, the city of Jablonec nad Nisou, invite everyone to take part in Polish-Czech Argentine tango workshops. The project involves holding seven two-day workshop meetings (Saturday and Sunday on a selected weekend each month, from March to November 2017).
The project was conceived by the Bolesławiec and Jablonec communities of ballroom-dance enthusiasts: the “Cafe Tango” Association and the “Tango Bolesławiec” Association, as well as people gathered around the “Topdance” dance school in Jablonec.
The project’s second meeting, held again in April, was led by one of Poland’s best instructor couples: Agnieszka Stach and Tymoteusz Ley from Kraków. The new two-day format is working exceptionally well, as both the workshops and the milonga continue to attract keen interest from dance enthusiasts. Fifty people took part in the workshops (18 from the Czech Republic and 32 from Poland). The evening milonga, once again held in the foyer of the Forum cinema, lasted until midnight. The evening gathering was open to everyone interested in Argentine tango, so participation in the workshops was not required in order to dance during the milonga.
The project’s third meeting, held in May, was led by the brilliant Argentine instructor couple Anita Escobar and Facundo Penalva. It is safe to say that they won the hearts of the Polish and Czech participants immediately—not only because of the high level they demonstrated in Argentine tango, but also because of the incredible positive energy Anita and Facundo radiated throughout the two days of workshops. Smiles never left the faces of either the instructors or the participants, who once again did not disappoint and turned up in full (10 couples from the Czech Republic and 15 couples from Poland).
One interesting fact about the third workshop meeting is worth mentioning: one of the project participants, Zuzanna, anticipating sunny weather over the weekend, returned to Liberec immediately after Sunday’s classes—on a road bike brought specially for the occasion! The route, including mountain climbs, covered more than 100 km. Congratulations on your fitness!
