A 250-kilogram bomb was found in the village of Świętoszów. Although it had lain there for several decades, it still posed a threat. The projectile could explode at any moment.

Police officers from the Nowogrodziec police station immediately arrived at the site, alongside other emergency services, and secured the area for several hours. “The overriding priority was above all to ensure the safety of the residents,” says Sergeant Marta Kubiak, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec police.

On Tuesday, June 6, the bomb was transported to a training ground and detonated.

Police remind people that, if unexploded ordnance or bombs that failed to detonate are found (projectiles, bombs, ammunition, grenades, etc.), the appropriate services must be notified immediately. Even after several decades, such materials retain their explosive properties.
