A vernissage of works created during winter-break classes was held in the BOK–MCC building. At the “Orzeł” CIK, participants of the BOK–MCC theater workshop told the story of the Steel Hedgehog to preschoolers, schoolchildren and adults alike. A hip-hop workshop dance performance took place on the square behind BOK–MCC. At Forum Cinema, viewers were treated to screenings with a surprise. We were also visited by students from a school in Lubin.
The Children’s Day activities began with participants of the hip-hop dance workshops, who presented their skills on May 31. The Canon and Canonki groups performed on the square behind BOK–MCC. The dance routines prepared together with their instructor, Katarzyna Tomczyk-Jakubowska, were well received by the audience, as shown by the enthusiastic applause.
On June 1, the BOK–MCC “hallo grupa” theater workshop presented “The Tale of the Steel Hedgehog” by Jan Brzechwa at the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Center. This magical story, filled with enchanted characters, was read by Łucja Mielczarek, Krystyna Kupczak and Marek Pietraszkiewicz. Participants of the theater workshops from the I and II Environmental Self-Help Centers in Bolesławiec supported them in the staging. In the morning, the tale was watched by preschoolers from Bolesławiec’s MPP Nos. 2 and 6, as well as first- and second-grade pupils from the Primary School at the School Complex of the Piarist Order and first- to third-grade pupils from Primary School No. 2 of MZS No. 3. At the evening performance, Kornel Filipowicz, Deputy Mayor of the City of Bolesławiec, joined the readers as a guest. The event was supervised by Urszula Frąszczak-Matyjewicz, instructor of the BOK–MCC theater workshop.
That day also saw the opening of an exceptional ceramic wall composition titled “Our Sky.” The exhibition is the result of a week of work by children who attended classes at the BOK–MCC ceramics workshop during this year’s winter break. The workshops involved creating a ceramic bas-relief in which the structure of the clay, color and light played important roles. The project was inspired by birds inhabiting our city, their habits, ways of moving and avian character. Workshop participants designed the bas-relief, decorated birds made from plaster molds, shaped a tree branch and glazed the elements of the composition together. The work, fired in a ceramic kiln, was illuminated. The participants expanded their knowledge of art, fine-art terminology and ceramic technology. The classes were led by Edyta Orlińska, Mateusz Grobelny and Katarzyna Zarówny. The work presented in the BOK–MCC lobby on the first floor was created by Radosław Bakalarz, Kinga Benesz, Emilia Hoszowska, Bartosz Huterski, Julia Kamińska, Emil Korszeń, Dorota Krawczyńska, Daria Kwiecińska, Nadia Łyda, Aniela Nowak, Julia Olszowy, Maja Parejko, Julia Polilejko, Julia Poliwka, Marcin Przybyła, Pola Wiśniewska, Adam Witkowski and Klaudia Zapora.
We were also visited by third-grade pupils from classes 3a and 3b of Primary School No. 9 in Lubin. The children toured our center and took part in ceramics workshops led by Mateusz Grobelny. During the classes, they created various works from clay, guided by their imaginations.
