On Saturday, May 27, the Two Islands Cup regatta was held on Lake Bielsko near Międzychód. It was organized for the second time by the Międzychód Society for Tourism and Water Sports. The competition was held in the Optimist, Cadet and Omega classes.
The Sail Swim sailing school team from Bolesławiec competed in the Optimist and Cadet classes. (Four crews started in the first category and three in the second; these were the competitors’ first starts in the Cadet class. Cadets are two-person boats equipped with three sails: a jib, mainsail and spinnaker. It is the first racing class in which success depends on a crew—that is, a helm and a crew member).
The regatta was held in very light winds, but as many as five races were nevertheless completed. Here are the results:
- Optimist up to age 11
- 1st place – Jakub Pasieka
- 2nd place – Jan Tesarowicz
- Optimist over age 11
- 1st place – Wincenty Grochowski
