The changes are related to ensuring the smooth operation of trains during the modernisation and renovation of railway lines carried out by PLK. For journeys on routes where passengers face difficulties, PKP Intercity has prepared a special offer, reducing ticket prices.

The timetable adjustment enables the optimal operation of trains during the largest investments in years, the result of which will be more comfortable journeys and the expected standard of service at stations and stops.

Wielkopolska

During the modernisation of the Poznań–Warsaw railway line, 12 pairs of PKP Intercity trains will run. Passengers will have access to 6 EIC, 5 TLK and one IC service. Trains from Warsaw will travel via Gniezno, where they will make an additional stop. An additional stop at Poznań Wschód station has also been planned for most trains. In addition, 4 pairs of trains (3 TLK and IC) will stop at Inowrocław Rąbinek station. The journey on the Warsaw–Poznań route will be extended from 40 to more than 60 minutes.

During the modernisation, PKP Intercity plans to operate replacement transport. Four pairs of buses connecting with trains travelling to/from Warsaw will run between Kutno, Koło and Konin. Meanwhile, two pairs of coaches to/from Gniezno will travel to Września, providing a convenient transfer to trains running towards the capital. In addition, a Warsaw–Konin train service will be launched. It will be coordinated with a bus service running from Słupca.

For passengers travelling on the Warsaw–Poznań route, PKP Intercity has prepared a special offer. As part of the Bilet Taniomiastowy promotion, ticket prices for TLK and IC trains running via the changed route will be reduced by approximately 10 percent. For example, a passenger travelling from Poznań to Warsaw will pay PLN 54.90 instead of the previous PLN 61. The offer will come into effect in June 2017.

In regional traffic, trains will be replaced by buses, which from June 12 will ensure smooth travel between Konin and Poznań. Depending on the time of day and road traffic, the journey between Konin and Września will take from 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Special stops are being prepared for buses running between Konin and Września. The carrier also plans to introduce additional bus services between Konin and Poznań, with a journey time of approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

Changes on the Warsaw–Lublin route. Cheaper tickets

Due to the modernisation of the Warsaw–Lublin line, from June 11 the organisation of traffic will change directly on the route and on adjacent lines. Trains from Warsaw to Lublin will travel via Lubartów, Parczew, Radzyń Podlaski, Łuków, Siedlce and Mińsk Mazowiecki, stopping in all these towns.

Residents of Lubartów, Parczew and Radzyń Podlaski will gain a direct connection with the capital, while passengers from Łuków will gain one with Lublin. As many as 10 trains to the capital will depart from Łuków. The Warsaw–Lublin route will be served by 8 pairs of trains, including 1 pair operating only at weekends. The fastest will complete the journey in 2 hours 48 minutes.

Replacement transport will be introduced for residents of Puławy and Dęblin. Buses will take passengers to Łuków, where they will transfer to trains from and towards Warsaw. Passengers from Nałęczów will instead use buses to Lublin, where trains to the capital will be waiting for them. The journey on the Lublin–Warsaw route will be extended by approximately 30–40 minutes.

For the duration of the modernisation, PKP Intercity will reduce ticket prices on the entire Warsaw–Lublin route and on intermediate sections. The discount will range from several to several dozen percent, or as much as PLN 10. For example, passengers will pay PLN 30.90 for a ticket from Warsaw to Lublin instead of the previous price of nearly PLN 40. Ticket prices to Terespol and Biała Podlaska will also change. Customers will pay PLN 34.90 and PLN 29.90 respectively for journeys to these cities—over PLN 11 and PLN 10 less than before. Tickets at the new prices can be purchased from May 22.

The modernisation will also affect trains travelling from southern and western Poland. Passengers from Kraków, Katowice, Kielce and Wrocław will travel by PKP Intercity trains to Dęblin. From there, buses will take them to Lublin. On the way, the coaches will also stop in Nałęczów and Puławy. The number of trains from southern Poland (Kraków, Kielce, Katowice and Wrocław) running via Radom will remain unchanged.

Due to the works being carried out on the Garwolin–Lublin section, trains will not run along it. Services will operate only as far as Garwolin. Buses will replace Koleje Mazowieckie trains on the Garwolin–Dęblin section. The same will apply to the Dęblin–Lublin section, where buses will replace some PR trains. Depending on the carrier, the journey between Lublin and Dęblin will be extended by 30 to 45 minutes, and between Garwolin and Dęblin by approximately 80 minutes.

Better for passengers

From June 11, the journey time of the fastest train on the Kraków–Zakopane route will be reduced by 14 minutes. This is the result of the construction of a new railway link in Sucha Beskidzka. There will also be a new stop in the town—Sucha Beskidzka Zamek.

Trains on the Wrocław–Jelenia Góra route will be a few minutes faster. Following its modernisation, Jelenia Góra station will provide passengers with more comfortable service. There will be an additional connection to the seaside. Thanks to PLK’s works, seasonal services on the Sławno–Darłowo route are returning.

Passengers in Sucha Beskidzka and Wólka Orłowska will use new stops on line no. 69 (Rejowiec–Zamość, a diversionary route for line no. 7). The Gorzów Wielkopolski Wschodni stop has been operating since April, facilitating transport during the modernisation of the viaduct.

Changes to the PKP Intercity offer

From June 11, residents of Chełm will have an additional train to Warsaw at their disposal. In addition, the Kyiv–Przemyśl service will gain a connection with the capital, as the route of the TLK Pomarańczarka train, which currently begins and ends in Rzeszów, will be extended. Weekend services will be another new feature in the timetable. Residents of Zwardoń and Żywiec will gain a train to the capital.

In addition, a service will be launched running from Węgliniec via Bolesławiec, Legnica, Łódź and Warsaw to Białystok. Both connections will be operated by Dart vehicles. Residents of Racibórz will also use the modern electric multiple unit. From June 11, an IC-category train to Warsaw will run there. From June 15, passengers will be able to travel from the capital to Szklarska Poręba by EIC train.

Furthermore, from June 11 the EIC Tatry Warsaw–Zakopane service will run daily instead of only at weekends, as before. In addition, two Gdynia–Wrocław trains will stop in Mogilno, while in Piotrków Trybunalski a Gdynia–Zakopane service with carriages to Zagórze, Krynica and Przemyśl will stop.
