Legnica police officers detained a 26-year-old man who robbed his employers of nearly PLN 20,000. They then charged the thief’s partner, who committed one of the thefts together with him.

The 26-year-old was detained on 2 May at his place of residence. The Legnica resident hid from the officers in a sofa. It did not help him, however. He was taken into police custody.

Officers established that, at the beginning of January, the detained man had taken a job at a retail outlet in Legnica. Taking advantage of the owner’s absence, he stole PLN 2,000 and tobacco products worth PLN 7,000.

A month later—this time together with his girlfriend, an 18-year-old resident of Legnica—they took jobs at another retail outlet, which they robbed of cash and tobacco products worth PLN 10,000.
The couple have already been charged with theft. Both admitted to the crime. The 26-year-old is a repeat offender with multiple previous convictions. The 18-year-old faces up to five years in prison. The 26-year-old could spend as many as 7.5 years behind bars.
