The incident took place on Saturday, April 29. A reader sent us a photograph showing an ambulance parked in the Tesco car park. She added: “I am outraged by this. Until this ambulance returns to its base, it is unavailable. And someone may need help.”
We contacted Adam Zdaniuk, director of the county hospital in Bolesławiec. As it turned out, the emergency medical team had been taking home a patient who lived near the store. “One of the paramedics may have gone into Tesco for a bread roll. I did not check that, but they are only human,” explains A. Zdaniuk.
However, the head of the ZOZ stresses that emergency teams certainly do not drive their ambulances shopping. “That is absolutely out of the question. An ambulance cannot leave the premises without an order from the dispatcher,” adds Adam Zdaniuk.
