The twentieth session of the Bolesławiec County Council was held on Thursday, 30 October, in the conference room of the county office. During the September session, the councillors adopted resolutions concerning the expiry of the mandates of Adam Ciemięga (who is subject to a final judgment conditionally discontinuing the proceedings) and Tadeusz Węgrzanowski of PSL, who died this year.
Węgrzanowski’s seat on the Council was taken by Michał Bojanowski (PSL), while Ciemięga’s seat went to Leopold Wołoszyn (Bolesławiec Land). Bojanowski works for the Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Office, while Wołoszyn runs a business. Both men took their oaths of office on 30 October.
In addition, the County Council elected a new deputy chairperson in a secret ballot. The councillors put forward two candidates. Krystyna Boratyńska of Bolesławiec County XXI nominated Józef Król for the position. Zbigniew Mitera of PSL, meanwhile, nominated Michał Bojanowski. The ballot committee consisted of Krzysztof Jakubowicz (chairperson), Elżbieta Armata and Halina Gniewek.
The new deputy chairperson of the County Council became Michał Bojanowski. He received 11 votes. Six councillors voted for Józef Król’s candidacy.
The county and the media
During Thursday’s session, the councillors had an opportunity to hear a report on the county’s promotional activities, presented by Renata Czerwińska, acting head of the Promotion, Development and Investment Department. After the official’s presentation, County Council Chairperson Karol Stasik raised the issue of an article entitled “He Lost His Mandate, Kept His Honour”, published in “Express Bolesławiecki”. The article about Adam Ciemięga was illustrated with a photograph... of Karol Stasik. “I think it was not a coincidence. The author of the article knows me very well,” the deputy chairperson said. “It seems to me that by promoting me badly, the Council is also being promoted badly,” he added.
Robert Rosiński, meanwhile, raised the subject of another medium with which the county has an agreement—Azart-Sat television. “I state, with full responsibility, that Azart-Sat television presents reports from County Council sessions in a biased manner,” the Bolesławiec Land councillor said from the podium. As he stressed, viewers watching reports from county councillors’ proceedings may get the impression that only three or four people work on the Council.
