This month, we reported that Miejski Zakład Komunikacji was considering purchasing used vehicles and looking for savings. “We are reviewing the timetables. Some routes are being discontinued, others changed,” Andrzej Jagiera, president of the company, told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. We added that another increase in ticket prices might be awaiting us.
During the most recent City Council session, convened on 29 October, council members approved new fares for passenger transport on MZK routes. The regular single ticket will increase by 20 groszy. It will cost 1.90 zł. The discounted ticket will be 5 groszy more expensive (95 groszy)—available only to students and veterans. Other passengers will pay 1.10 zł for a discounted ticket.
Passengers will pay 2 zł more for regular named monthly tickets within the city: up to 5 km (48 zł) and from 5 to 10 km (62 zł), and 1 zł more for discounted tickets (24 zł and 31 zł).
Period and network tickets will also become more expensive. A regular ticket for the urban network within Bolesławiec will increase by 4 zł and cost 68 zł, while the discounted ticket will be 2 zł more expensive (34 zł). A regular ticket for the urban and suburban network will cost 6 zł more (134 zł), while the discounted ticket will cost 3 zł more (67 zł). Meanwhile, a regular quarterly ticket for the urban network within the city of Bolesławiec will cost 10 zł more (180 zł), and the discounted ticket 5 zł more (90 zł).
Fees will also be increased, including those for travelling without a valid ticket and transporting luggage. The justification for the resolution states: “The increases in ticket prices for passenger transport on regular public transport routes are related to the rising costs of the activities conducted by MZK Spółka in Bolesławiec, such as the increase in the price of diesel fuel and the increase in the prices of all energy carriers.”
The resolution also introduces a 24-hour ticket, which can be purchased only from the driver. Its price will be 6.60 zł for a regular ticket and 3.30 zł for a discounted ticket. The legal act will enter into force two weeks after its publication in the Official Journal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
