A probably Czech citizen came across an unusual find in Okrzeszyn (Lubawka municipality). On Sunday evening, he arrived there by quad bike with a metal detector. When local residents, curious about what the man was doing there, approached, the Czech drove away. As it turned out, the man had found World War II-era shells in the stream.

As st. chorąży istotne.pl was told by Radosław Mazur, commander of Bolesławiec’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol No. 23, the stream in Okrzeszyn contains more than 20 artillery shells and grenades manufactured in Germany and the Soviet Union. “We are currently working to recover this ammunition,” said the head of the Bolesławiec sappers.

The shells will then be transported to a training ground and detonated.
