The incident occurred during the night of April 8–9 in Lubin. Shortly after 1 a.m., a resident of the city called the Lubin police duty officer, saying he had seen an unknown perpetrator break a window in one of the stores and enter.

Police officers went to the scene. Inside the store, they noticed a man who had already prepared goods to take away: 14 bouquets of flowers, chocolate bars and chewing gum. However, the perpetrator did not intend to surrender easily. When the officers attempted to detain him, he charged at them with a hammer.

The 24-year-old resident of Polkowice County did not respond to the officers’ commands to drop the hammer. It was only the use of a stun gun that effectively cooled the burglar’s aggression.

The would-be thief was taken into police custody. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
