On Sunday, TOP Bolesławiec’s volleyball players played their third match in the Lower Silesian junior competition. Their opponents were Rosiek Syców. The beginning of the first set was even, with the teams trading points. Later, TOP took an 18–14 lead. Unfortunately, errors by our players allowed the visitors to make up the deficit. The end of the set was tense, but fortunately Bolesławiec won 25–23.
In the second set, TOP took the lead several times, only to lose it. Near the end of the set, Kaczurowski scored an important point, making the score 23–23. However, the visitors controlled the closing stages of the second set. Syców defeated Bolesławiec 25–23.
Bolesławiec controlled the beginning of the third set. TOP’s defeat was decided in the closing stages. With the score at 23–23, Włoszczyński’s attack out of bounds gave Syców set point. TOP still managed to fight back. Marcinkiewicz’s attack out of bounds ended the advantage play. Rosiek defeated TOP 28–26. In the fourth set, the Bolesławiec volleyball players clearly dominated. TOP built a substantial lead and held on to it until the end of the set, winning 25–20.
The match was decided by a tie-break. Good play by Marcinkiewicz, Kaczurowski and Świerzewski gave Bolesławiec an 8–5 lead. After the change of ends, Syców counterattacked effectively and narrowed the gap to one point (13–14). Marcinkiewicz’s good reception, Biczaka’s precise set and Świerzewski’s powerful attack gave Bolesławiec the desired 15th point. TOP won the entire match 3–2 (25–23, 23–25, 26–28, 25–20, 15–13).
After three rounds of matches, Bolesławiec are top of their group. TOP will play their next match on 26 October in Wrocław. Their opponents will be Gwardia Wrocław.
