The incident occurred on March 17 at night in Legnica. An off-duty police officer noticed three people attempting to break into a parked Citroën. The officer immediately notified the duty officer at the unit and requested assistance. Shortly afterward, the trio—two 29-year-old men and a 21-year-old woman—were arrested and placed in police custody.
The car the team wanted to rob contained construction equipment, including an angle grinder, rotary hammer, radial press and pipe crimping tool.
What is more, officers established that one of the men caught red-handed was a repeat offender who had stolen a Volkswagen on March 1 and then abandoned it several streets away. At the prosecutor’s office and police’s request, the court ordered the suspect to be held in temporary custody for three months. The 21-year-old woman was placed under police supervision.
Two of those arrested face up to 10 years in prison. The 29-year-old repeat offender could spend as many as 15 years behind bars.
