Recently, two signs appeared beside the pavement located next to the block on Staszica Street. They read: “Warning! Private property. Passage prohibited. Pavement in poor technical condition.” However, as a resident of the block told us, people are ignoring the ban anyway.

“This pavement is part of the housing association’s property,” istotne.pl was told by Jarosław Molenda of Centrum Nieruchomości Molenda & Molenda, the property manager. “The association bears the costs associated with maintaining this area, including keeping the pavement in good condition.”

Since it is difficult to describe the condition of this pavement as good, the Staszica housing association, fearing that an accident might occur there, decided to warn everyone passing by that this is private property.

As Jarosław Molenda emphasizes, the signs are primarily intended to provide information. If the association really wanted to prohibit people from walking on the pavement altogether, it could have fenced off the area.

“The source of the problem lies elsewhere: whoever divided this property in the past completely lost sight of interests broader than those of the association alone,” the property manager continues. “These people were forced to accept something they did not want, because they are not at all interested in owning this pavement.”

Is there a chance that the signs will soon disappear? As J. Molenda adds, this would involve a huge financial outlay that the association would have to find for renovating the pavement. The cost is estimated at approximately PLN 20,000–30,000. We will return to the subject.
