The “Tango Milonga – Polish-Czech Dance Workshops” project is already the third international initiative of BOK – MCC and the local Argentine tango community.
Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury – Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki, together with the project partner, the city of Jablonec nad Nysą, invites you to take part in Polish-Czech Argentine tango workshops. The project involves seven two-day workshop meetings (Saturday and Sunday on a selected weekend each month, from March to November 2017).
Leading Argentine tango instructors in Poland have confirmed their participation in the project. The first classes will begin on the weekend of 18 and 19 March, and the instructors will be: Agnieszka Stach and Tymoteusz Ley.
The project was conceived by the Bolesławiec and Jablonec communities of ballroom-dance enthusiasts: Stowarzyszenie „Cafe Tango” and Stowarzyszenie „Tango Bolesławiec”, as well as people associated with the “Topdance” dance school in Jablonec.
Applications for the project are accepted during “Cafe Tango” classes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the dance studio at BOK – MCC. In the Czech Republic, applications should be sent to: libor.jager@topdance.cz.
Approximately 25 couples from Poland and the Czech Republic will take part directly in the workshops. During the monthly meetings, additional people may join the project, and participants may be exchanged, allowing more people to benefit from the classes and helping avoid attendance problems caused by unforeseen circumstances (the expected total number of participants is more than 50 people from Poland and the Czech Republic).
At the workshops, an interpreter will be present in each group to ensure that the classes run smoothly. Each workshop session will conclude with an evening milonga in the foyer of Forum cinema—a gathering of all the couples and an opportunity to practise the skills acquired during the classes. Among other things, the milonga makes it possible to practise the techniques and steps learned in the lessons, dance with different partners, and exchange experiences with people who have a similar or considerably longer dancing background.
The “Tango Milonga – Polish-Czech Dance Workshops” project is co-financed by the European Union
under the European Regional Development Fund and by state budget funds through Euroregion Nysa
