The matter was reported by the Bolesławiec starost Karol Stasik: “When we were with Marshal Cezary Przybylski at the ceremony welcoming American troops in Żagań, we made strenuous efforts to hand a letter to officials from the Ministry of National Defence requesting funding for the reconstruction of the road to Świętoszów, and we succeeded.
However, after several weeks, the county and provincial authorities received information that the regulation under which the reconstruction of roads such as the one to Świętoszów (Osiecznica municipality)—that is, roads of major military importance—would be co-financed from the state budget was still being drafted. What is more, the road in question was not included on the list of roads of strategic importance. “We received a refusal,” added K. Stasik.
