On Sunday afternoon (March 5), we visited the municipal pond by Łajba with a camera. Unfortunately, we did not see the drake Mandaryn. Instead, we saw a lot of bread. Some of it was already covered in mold. Someone even threw half a loaf of bread, wrapped in foil, into the water... There were also several beer cans and bottles, as well as other rubbish, in the pond. Mallard ducks were swimming among it. Despite appeals, people continue to feed the ducks bread. Bread quickly becomes moldy in water and can poison the animals. You can read about how and when to feed ducks and swans in a short guide to feeding waterfowl.
We notified the Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Mieszkaniowej, which takes care of the pond, about the matter.
