One of the items on the agenda of the February session of the Bolesławiec City Council is a vote on a draft resolution concerning the “draft adaptation of the network of public eight-year primary schools and lower-secondary schools to the new school system”. Since councillors from the presidential Forum hold a majority on the Council, adopting this resolution appears to be merely a formality. The most important changes referred to in the aforementioned document are:
- Gimnazjum No. 2 will be incorporated into Primary School No. 2 on 1 September this year; from that day, the school will be located on Słowackiego Street
- the “number two” school will cease its activities on 31 August
- Gimnazjum Zakonu Pijarów will be transformed into Liceum Ogólnokształcące Zakonu Pijarów (the secondary school will open on 1 September)
- Gimnazjum Oxpress will be transformed into Publiczne Liceum Ogólnokształcące Oxpress.
An outraged Reader wrote to us:
A rapid reform in Bolesławiec! Why is this being done so quickly? What is the reason for it? Who will benefit from moving the lower-secondary students from Słowackiego to the school on Bielska? Is the school on Bielska prepared for children with special educational needs?
What do you think about the planned changes? We will certainly return to this topic.
