The incident occurred after 6:30 p.m. on a road in Oświęcim. As the government convoy was overtaking him, the 21-year-old Fiat driver suddenly turned left. One car in the convoy passed normally, while the driver of the second car, in which the prime minister was travelling, swerved left to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, he drove into a tree growing beside the road.
“An ambulance took the prime minister away. Even if the injuries were not visible, under procedure such an important person must always be taken for medical examinations,” the police reported. The government spokesperson confirmed that Szydło was in hospital, where she was undergoing routine examinations. “Fortunately, nothing serious happened to the prime minister,” he said.
Two other people, BOR officers, were taken to hospital together with the prime minister.
