It was no different with one of the most recognizable car brands today – of course, we are talking about the fulfillment of the American dream, namely Ford.
A Toy for the Rich
At the beginning of the last century, automobiles were nothing more than toys for bored, jaded rich people. An ordinary, less affluent person had no chance even of taking a short ride in this marvel of contemporary technology. It was then that Henry Ford entered the scene. Determined to build a simple, solid and relatively inexpensive vehicle, he created his first design – the Model T – and began mass production. These two things revolutionized American society and laid the foundations for the automotive world as we know it today. Of course, Mr. Ford did not invent the automobile – while other companies focused on creating exclusive models for well-off citizens, Ford significantly lowered the price of his automobile, making it financially accessible to the average citizen. In this way, he successfully transformed the automobile from a luxury toy into a pillar of American society. In the first year of its debut, 1908, the Ford Model T set a new sales record – more than ten thousand units of the vehicle were sold, only to capture over 48% of the automobile market by 1914.
Ford Today
Today, Ford factories are spread throughout the world, and the characteristic blue badge bearing the brand’s name is known to drivers at every latitude. Valued for its elegance and modern styling, as well as generations of renowned build quality, the latest technologies and driving comfort, it is hardly surprising that cars of this brand rank among the most frequently purchased vehicles in the world. Today, the brand is associated above all with the Ford Transit, known for more than fifty years (let’s be honest – you say “Transit,” you think “Ford”), which is eagerly and very frequently chosen by emergency services (ambulances built on the Ford Transit platform help people in most European and Asian countries) and entrepreneurs around the world. There is also the Ford Mondeo (https://www.ford.pl/Samochody_osobowe/Mondeo), which successfully combines the safety of a family car with elegance and driving comfort. Finally, Ford also means the power, strength and freedom of the Mustang – a synonym for and hallmark of American motoring.
As you can see, despite considerable competition in the global automotive market, Ford can be confident of its leading position. Mr. Ford’s dream came true beyond his expectations – he managed to create a brand that is recognizable and accessible to everyone, while showing the way to his successors and competitors.
