On Monday, January 16 (late in the evening), military equipment belonging to American soldiers, who are stationed at the local garrison, arrived in Bolesławiec. US Army equipment (approximately 70 wheeled vehicles) arrived on the carriages of a special train. Among the vehicles are the popular Humvees. There are also trucks. This is the first transport of this kind to arrive in Bolesławiec.
The second transport will arrive in our city by the end of this week. There are already 150 American soldiers in Bolesławiec. Ultimately, there are to be approximately 300 of them (an engineer battalion – combat engineers), and they are to rotate every nine months. Several medical vehicles (Humvees in ambulance configuration) also arrived by rail. The American soldiers who arrived in Bolesławiec are normally stationed at Fort Carson in the state of Colorado (USA) and are part of the 4th Infantry Division.
The American soldiers will train jointly with soldiers of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment from Bolesławiec. The joint exercises will begin in February or March. An official welcome for the US troops by the authorities of the city and Bolesławiec County is also planned. American soldiers are also stationed in the county at the barracks of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów.
