The final concert of the 13th National Review of Rock Bands Rock Blok at BOK took place on Sunday, 28 September, in the Forum cinema auditorium. The star of the evening was one of Poland’s best rock bands – Hey. Before Katarzyna Nosowska’s group performed for the Bolesławiec audience, the winner of Saturday’s review – Cockroach from Mieroszów – took the stage.

The musicians from Mieroszów play – as the band members themselves admit – “hard, distinctive rock'n'roll”. Their energetic music appealed both to the audience and to the Rock Block at BOK jury, who awarded the band the main prize – PLN 2,000 and the opportunity to record an album in a professional studio. What is more, Michał Sowa of Cockroach was named the review’s best vocalist.

The Bolesławiec audience was, however, primarily waiting for Hey. The star did not disappoint. Katarzyna Nosowska’s group performed its best-known songs, including “Jealousy”, “Experiment”, “Heledore Baby”, “List”, “[Sic!]”, “Silence, Me and Time”, “Muka!” and “And You?”. The excellent “Angelene” from PJ Harvey’s repertoire was also included.

As an encore, Hey played, among other songs, “Time of the Season” by The Zombies. The band’s concert ended with the charming song “Chyba”.

The evening’s headlining performance showed that a great artist does not need fireworks or spectacular gadgets. Good music speaks for itself. The members of Hey simply walked onto the stage and... played. And Nosowska – natural and radiating warmth – held everyone’s attention with her charisma. It is only a pity that a band of this calibre was unable to fill the Forum cinema auditorium.
