The incident occurred on Saturday, 14 January. At around 11:10 a.m., the duty officer of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a telephone report of very heavy smoke in the vicinity of Oxpress Primary School (al. 1000-lecia). An SM patrol was immediately sent to the scene. It turned out that someone was burning wooden elements, branches and cables there. Bolesławiec firefighters also arrived at the scene.
Municipal police officers inspected the school grounds. It emerged that the waste generated during maintenance work at the school was being burned by an elderly man. The perpetrator of the offence was fined.
The municipal police remind residents: Anyone who thermally processes waste outside a waste incineration plant or co-incineration plant is liable to arrest or a fine. – We also inform you that the city of Bolesławiec has a ban on burning plant residues in the open air. Biodegradable waste should be composted or handed over free of charge to the PSZOK (Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point), located at 6 Staszica Street in Bolesławiec – the uniformed officers add.
