We have already written about Mr. Jurek in an article about the garden shed fire. Not only was the 73-year-old robbed of what little he had, but someone also set fire to the garden shed where he lived. The plight of this Bolesławiec resident touched many people, including Magda Gałkiewicz, who is appealing for help for Mr. Jurek on her profile on Facebook:
His name is Jurek and he has turned 73. He is an electrician by profession. He works odd jobs in the forest and gardens, carries out minor repairs and collects scrap metal. He also looks after stray cats, of which there are about 10. There would be nothing unusual about this were it not for the fact that he has been homeless for 10 years. Until recently, this man lived in his own garden shed on an allotment. He lived there because someone first robbed him and then, after he received help from kind-hearted people, vandals set his belongings on fire. He lost everything in the middle of winter: his home and the tools he used to earn a living...
The man is asking for help. Food is, of course, essential. He also needs cleaning products and toiletries, bed linen, slippers, work clothes for working in the forest, rubber boots, wellingtons, work shoes, gloves and a waterproof jacket. Tools for work would also be useful, such as an axe, saw, shovel, rake, string trimmer, small and large socket wrenches in sizes 6–24, a soldering iron, small and large screwdrivers, a battery-powered lamp and radio. Perhaps something could also be found for the cats?
