A Reader informed us that there were gaps in the drainage grate on Konradowska Street that could pose a danger to cyclists. In an email to our editorial office, they wrote: “While cycling around Bolesławiec, I came across quite a dangerous place – five longitudinal gaps in the road.” In their opinion, the gaps were so wide that a bicycle wheel could fall into them.
Local residents also noticed the problem. According to them, the gaps were dangerous not only for cyclists but also for people riding roller skates and skateboards. Fortunately, no accident occurred.
On Friday, 12 September, we sent an inquiry to the city hall asking who was responsible for the defective grate. We received a reply a week later. As it turned out, the gaps had been eliminated in the meantime. Genowefa Bogaczewicz, deputy head of the municipal services department, wrote in her response: “The current gaps should not pose a threat to the safety of road users.”
