Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec detained people suspected of stealing gold jewelry, which the owner estimated to be worth nearly PLN 5,000. The first suspect was detained immediately after the incident. The homeowner pointed the officers responding at the scene toward the thief’s escape route. The officers gave chase. While searching the nearby forest, the police noticed a man. He had hidden in… a river. The 39-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County stood in the water for nearly an hour. Cold and shivering, he was detained after leaving the water. The officers recovered some of the stolen jewelry.

The suspect’s accomplices were detained later. They turned out to be residents of Bolesławiec County, aged 24 and 38. All of them have already been charged in connection with the residential burglary. The two older detainees had previously been in conflict with the law. They now face up to five years in prison.
